ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The Tennessee men’s golf team, ranked No. 8/17 nationally, concluded its fall season this past weekend with an 11th-place finish at the prestigious Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, hosted by Georgia Tech. The event brought together some of the top teams in the country, serving as a competitive finale to the Vols’ fall slate. With the fall season in the books, Tennessee now shifts its focus to the spring schedule, aiming for continued improvement and postseason success.
Tennessee’s Performance Recap
Evan Woosley-Reed led the charge for the Volunteers, finishing tied for 28th place with an even-par general score. His second-round performance stood out, where he posted an impressive 4-under 68—the lowest round of the tournament for Tennessee. The redshirt senior showcased consistency and resilience, providing a bright spot for the Vols in a challenging field.
Right behind Woosley-Reed was redshirt sophomore Bruce Murphy, who carded a total score just one stroke higher, finishing tied for 33rd. Murphy demonstrated solid play throughout the tournament, reinforcing his value as a key contributor to the team’s success.
Kai Komulainen and Lance Simpson both tied for 49th, each finishing the event with a 5-over-par score. Their performances highlighted moments of promise, and both players will look to build on their results heading into the spring. Rounding out Tennessee’s lineup was freshman Jackson Herrington, who tied for 65th in his second collegiate tournament.
Team Standings and Tournament Highlights
The Vols finished with a team score of 871 (+7), placing 11th general in a stacked field of competitors. Duke emerged as the dominant force, winning the tournament with an outstanding 28-under-par team score. UCLA and Virginia rounded out the top three, finishing at 25-under and 19-under, respectively.
Other notable performances came from Charlotte (-13), USC (-4), and Pepperdine (-3), which completed the top five in the leaderboard. The host team, Georgia Tech, finished in seventh place at 2-under-par, while Vanderbilt and Clemson also earned top-10 finishes.
