Marvel Rivals has already hosted several high-profile streamer events, attracting former pros from various titles. Now, with the first official rosters being announced, the game is edging closer to a full-fledged esports presence.
Esports Teams Join the Marvel Rivals Hype
The first significant signs of esports teams jumping into Marvel Rivals emerged on February 19. That day, Sentinels—a well-known North American organization—confirmed its entry into the game. Sentinels has built a reputation in VALORANT and other major esports, and while its Marvel Rivals roster is still being finalized, the announcement alone has generated major buzz.
On the same day, Virtus.pro, another major organization, revealed its Marvel Rivals lineup. Featuring former Overwatch pros, the team has already claimed victory in the European Marvel Rivals Season Zero Championship last December. As more teams form and announce their rosters, it’s safe to say this will become a regular occurrence.
Other notable organizations, such as Luminosity Gaming and NRG, participated in the first-ever Marvel Rivals Invitational back in December. However, their rosters mainly consisted of streamers and players from different esports titles like Apex Legends. For now, it’s unclear whether these teams will commit long-term or if they were only assembled for the initial event.

Sentinels has yet to confirm its full lineup, while Virtus.pro has revealed a team consisting of former Overwatch players, including SparkR, phi, Nevix, Finnsi, Dridro, and Sypeh. NTMR’s roster remains undisclosed after its previous team departed on February 10. Meanwhile, Kanga eSports has introduced a squad featuring Kronicx, Tyraxe, Don, Tekzy, Inspo, and Crimsyn.
Marvel Rivals Tournaments and Competitive Roadmap
As organizations finalize their rosters, tournament organizers are also stepping up their game. NetEase’s game director, Guangyun Chen, stated in January 2025 that establishing a strong esports ecosystem for Marvel Rivals was a top priority. While large-scale tournaments have yet to materialize, early competitive events are already taking shape.
Currently, the Marvel Rivals Invitational is running across four key regions: North America, Oceania, EMEA, and Asia. Each tournament features a $100,000 prize pool, setting the stage for the game’s competitive future.
The Marvel Rivals Championship Season One: Eternal Night Falls tournament is scheduled to run from March 8 to April 6 across multiple regions, including Asia, Europe, North America, and China. Meanwhile, the Marvel Rivals Invitational has already taken place in Oceania and Asia and is set to continue in EMEA and North America through March.
