UNI Swim and Dive Gears Up for Competitive Hawkeye Invitational

Panthers Aim to Build on Recent Success at Prestigious Meet

The University of Northern Iowa (UNI) swim and dive team is set to compete in the highly anticipated Hawkeye Invitational, a three-day event taking place from Thursday through Saturday at the Campus Recreation-Wellness Center in Iowa City. This meet will bring together some of the top collegiate swimming programs, offering a challenging and exciting opportunity for the Panthers.

The invitational will feature a strong lineup of universities, including Iowa, Iowa State, San Diego State, Arkansas, Colorado State, Illinois, Kansas, and Nebraska. Each day will commence with preliminary rounds at 10 a.m. CT, followed by the finals at 5 p.m. CT. UNI heads into the Hawkeye Invitational with significant momentum after an outstanding performance at the Huskies (Coyote) Invite earlier this month, where they secured 11 first-place finishes across various events.

  • 400-Yard Medley Relay: The quartet of Elyse Brayton, Sydney Aird, Hannah Nedder, and Morgan Meyer claimed first place with an impressive time of 3:53.27.
  • 50-Yard Freestyle Podium Sweep: Faith Larsen (23.41), Abby Lear (24.16), and Morgan Meyer (24.23) dominated the podium, showcasing UNI’s sprinting strength.

    • Olivia Chambers continued her stellar form, winning the 400-yard individual medley (4:34.77) after securing a Paralympic gold medal earlier this summer.
    • Faith Larsen took the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly (56.61).

  • 200-Yard Medley Relay: The Panthers’ relay team of Brayton, Aird, Nedder, and Larsen secured a first-place finish with a time of 1:47.06.
  • Notable Individual Performances:
    • Morgan Meyer continued her dominance by winning the 200-yard freestyle and securing her third victory of the weekend in the 100-yard freestyle (52.23).
    • Elyse Brayton emerged victorious in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.48).
  • 400-Yard Free Relay: The team of Meyer, Lear, Domnick, and Larsen concluded the meet with a first-place finish in 3:29.00.

Strong Performances

  • Three-Meter Dive: Erica Peters took second place with a score of 239.05, while Maddie Moran secured third with a personal-best score of 234.10.
  • One-Meter Dive: The Panthers swept the podium, with Peters (249.45), Trista Thompson (248.25), and Moran (222.75) claiming the top three spots.
