The VCT 2025: Masters Bangkok is set to begin on February 20, marking the first international LAN event of the Valorant Champions Tour season. The tournament brings together eight elite teams from four International Leagues, all vying for a share of the $500,000 prize pool and crucial VCT Points. Last year’s Masters event set a new peak viewership record, raising the bar for this edition.
Valorant Masters Bangkok 2025 Takes the Stage in Thailand
For the first time, the tournament is heading to Thailand, with UOB Live hosting the action. As Valorant expands its presence in the Asian market, holding international LAN events in Southeast Asia is a key strategy for generating local excitement and engagement with the rapidly growing esports title.
However, the tournament’s location could present challenges for fans in North and South America, two of Valorant’s largest demographics. The time zone difference means that American fans will have to tune in at inconvenient hours. For those on the U.S. West Coast, matches will begin at 2 AM and run until sunrise. This scheduling issue may impact teams like Sentinels, which traditionally draw massive audiences at international events.

The Eight Teams Competing in Masters Bangkok 2025
Americas: G2 Esports, Sentinels
Pacific: DRX, T1
EMEA: Team Vitality, Team Liquid
China: EDward Gaming, Trace Esports
Among the teams participating, some key Valorant esports audiences remain unrepresented. No Latin American team made it through the qualifiers, though MIBR came close. Similarly, French and Spanish-speaking EMEA fans have limited representation. Although Team Vitality is in the tournament, French audiences tend to rally behind content creator-backed teams like Gentle Mates and Karmine Corp.
Japanese fans also have no local team to support at Masters Bangkok. The last time a Japanese team competed at a Masters event was in 2022, when viewership from Japan reached nearly 420,000 peak viewers. This rivaled Valorant’s strong North American and international English-speaking audiences.

Tournament Format and Schedule
Swiss Stage: February 20 – 24, 2025
Playoffs: February 27 – March 2, 2025
The event kicks off with an eight-team Swiss Stage, where teams will be paired against opponents from different International Leagues. Two wins secure a spot in the four-team Playoffs, while two losses result in elimination.
Throughout the event, matches will be best-of-three, with the exception of the lower bracket final and the grand finals, which will be played as best-of-five. If two fan-favorite teams make it to a five-map grand final, this could lead to record-breaking peak viewership numbers for Valorant esports.
Special Showmatch Before the Grand Final
Ahead of the grand final, a special Showmatch will take place featuring Team Thailand against Team International. The Thai team will be captained by Nattawat “SuperBusS” Yoosawat, while the international squad will be led by Tyson “TenZ” Ngo. English-language viewership for VCT Americas has declined since TenZ’s retirement, but his participation in this event could make it one of the most-watched show matches in VCT history.
