Fortnite Players Are Currently Experiencing Multiple Seasons
The popular online game Fortnite has multiple game modes, which can make it confusing to keep track of the current season. The main part of the game, Battle Royale, is currently in a mini-season called Galactic Battle, which is a shortened season without a proper number. This mini-season is part of Chapter 6, but it will not be followed by Season 3. Instead, it will last for a month, adding new content, mechanics, and gameplay changes. The update is significant, with a ton of new Star Wars related content, including new POIs, weapons, and a major change in gameplay.
The Galactic Battle mini-season is a bit confusing, as it is sandwiched between two different seasons, rather than being between Chapters like normal. Fortnite’s first Chapter had 10 different seasons, but things got shorter over time, with only 7 seasons in Chapter 2, and just a handful per Chapter more recently. The game now seems to have four seasons for each Chapter. The current mini-season is expected to last until June, when a new season will kick off.
But Battle Royale is not the only game mode in Fortnite. Fortnite Festival is currently in its eighth season, which is all about Sabrina Carpenter, the featured artist for the season. Players can pick up her skin through the pass, which is now available in the Crew Pack too. There are also extra styles, including one that’s coming to the Item Shop instead. The pass is just better value, as the character can and probably will come to the item shop again in the future.
Fortnite OG, another game mode, is currently in Season 3, which is getting things into shape for where the game became more of what everyone remembers. The mode brings back the earlier days of Fortnite, with Tilted Towers, more interesting weapons, and a general looser feeling that’s getting a bit tighter. Rocket Riding on guided missiles is a key feature, making the game play more chaotically than other modes.
Fortnite Lego doesn’t have official seasons, but it does receive new content at roughly the same pace. The interesting thing with this game mode is that everything so far is permanent, rather than being tied to a seasonal schedule where content leaves. Lego Fortnite recently got a Star Wars expansion, which is available even after the end date, but the event pass will be gone once its time is over.
Rocket Racing, another game mode, doesn’t have definitive seasons either. It used to get batches of new content with a set of themed content dropped regularly, but Epic has decided not to term these as seasons and to instead just classify them as more content for racing. However, it seems like Rocket Racing is done, as Epic has stopped doing larger themed content drops.
Fortnite Reload, a mini battle Royale, is also a relatively new addition to the game. It doesn’t have clear seasonal divisions, but it has had updates that shuffle around its loot pool and extra modes. The bigger changes come with new map updates, like the recent Slurp Rush update, which added a second new map and new modes like Solos.
Finally, Fortnite Ranked mode is parallel to Battle Royale, and it’s in the same seasons and refreshes with a new rank for players since the regular season changes over. This one is simple to keep track of, as it ends when the Fortnite season ends. With so many modes, it’s getting trickier to keep track of what Fortnite season it is. At the moment, they’re all lined up, but June will bring the launch of a new season and yet more new modes.
