The Saint John’s University (SJU) golf team, ranked No. 14, remains in fourth place following the second round of the Twin Cities Classic on Sunday, September 29, at the Links at Northfork. Competing against 17 other teams, the Johnnies delivered an impressive 2-over-par 290 for the day. Despite the strong performance, they fell behind the top three teams, all of whom finished under par for the round.
Tight Race at the Top of the Leaderboard
Nebraska Wesleyan University held on to its slim one-shot lead after recording a 1-under-par 287, bringing its two-day total to 577 (+1). The team remains in first place, just ahead of No. 16-ranked Bethel University, who also shot 287, bringing their score to 578 (+2). Carleton College had the standout performance of the day, posting a 5-under-par 283, which tied them with Bethel for second place with a combined score of 578.
Saint John’s, with a total score of 587 (+11), is tied for fourth place with Gustavus Adolphus’ second team, who shot 284 (-4) on Sunday.
Notable Performances from SJU Golfers
Senior Andrew Boemer (Eagan, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) continued his solid play, carding a second consecutive 1-under-par 71. Boemer is tied for fourth place in the individual standings, with a total score of 142 (-2), placing him in strong contention for a top finish.
Junior Ethan Kress (Woodbury, Minn.) maintained his consistent play, finishing even-par with a 72. This round marked his fourth score of par or better this season. Kress is tied for 25th place with a total score of 149 (+5), just one stroke behind fellow junior Gus Briguet (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge). Briguet shot a 74 (+2) for the second day in a row, placing him in a tie for 20th with a total score of 145 (+4).

Contributions from Freshmen and Juniors
Freshman Drew Krekelberg (Rogers, Minn.) posted a solid 1-over-par 73 on Sunday, further highlighting his potential. Krekelberg is tied for 35th with junior Tim Fultz (Stillwater, Minn.), who contributed a 76 (+4) for the round, the team’s drop score. Both Krekelberg and Fultz are tied with a total score of 151 (+7).

The final round of the Twin Cities Classic is scheduled for Monday, September 30, at Le Sueur Country Club in Le Sueur, Minnesota. The 10 a.m. shotgun start will see the Johnnies aiming to improve their standing and challenge for a top-three finish.
With strong performances from key players such as Boemer, Kress, and Briguet, Saint John’s is poised to make a push for the podium in the final round of the Twin Cities Classic.
